This versatile and deliciously snacky dish is all that you wish to prepare for the family during this weekend. If you are looking for refreshing appetizers, Thai basil chicken would be one of those. The fresh, Thai basil has a more licorice smell with a slightly spicy taste. The combo of Thai basil with chicken makes it the best to start your meal with.

Why is it healthy?

Diabetics, hypertensive (high bp), and people with high lipid profile can include this recipe regularly as it is more filling, controls blood sugars. Kids and adults can enjoy this recipe with steamed rice and Thai curry. If you are someone looking to lose some pounds around this could be one of your healthy meals. You can also add your choice of protein like paneer, tofu, or vegan meat instead of chicken if you are vegetarian or a vegan.

⏳ Preparation Time: 20 to 25 minutes

🍽 Serves: 1

🥗 What you’ll need:

  • Chicken (minced)- 3/4 cup
  • Basil leaves- 1 cup
  • Garlic- 8 cloves
  • Redbird chilis (or any other spicy chilli)- 4 or more depending on the spice levels
  • Soy sauce- 1 tablespoon
  • Oyster/ Fish sauce- 1 tablespoon (optional)
  • Olive oil- 1/2 tablespoon
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Pepper powder- as per taste

✋Method:

  1. First, crush chillies and peeled garlic into a paste.
  2. Next, heat oil in the wok over high heat. Add the chilli-garlic paste and stir for 20 seconds.
  3. Next, add in the ground chicken, stir continuously for 6–8 minutes, or until chicken is thoroughly cooked.
  4. Then, add in the sauces and give everything a good toss. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Lastly, add in basil and place it on high heat until they are slightly cooked and remove the pan off the flame before they overcook.
  6. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and spring onions (optional).
  7. Thai basil chicken is ready. Enjoy! :)
